What is Sportsmetrics™?

Sportsmetrics™, a training program scientifically proven to decrease knee injuries in female athletes, was designed by Dr. Frank Noyes and the doctors and researchers at Cincinnati Sports Medicine Research and Education Foundation. It is a six-week jump training program that is compromised of a dynamic warm-up, jump/plyometric drills, strength training, speed and agility, and flexibility exercises. It focuses on developing overall leg strength as well as improving balance in strength from the front to the back of the thigh. While the program was scientifically tested on females Sportsmetrics™ is not just for females! Males will also benefit from developing overall leg strength and perfecting jumping and landing mechanics.

SPORTSMETRICS™ WARM UP FOR INJURY PREVENTION AND PERFORMANCE (WIPP)

WIPPis a specially designed warm-up, incorporating the four components of Sportsmetrics™ for maximum efficiency and conditioning. It integrates the proven components of Sportsmetrics™ for 20 minutes of nonstop muscle and joint preparation, plyometrics, strength and flexibility. WIPP also includes agility drills that can facilitate a quick transition into practice activities. The program is appropriate for use during training sessions for any sport that involves jumping, landing, cutting or twisting. Using WIPP keeps athletes constantly moving and taking advantage of the limited time in practice for muscle preparation. WIPP prepares muscle group and joints that are frequently injured: groin, hamstrings, low back, hip flexor and quads. An entire team can perform the WIPP program together.

The Sports Injury Test evaluates strength, function, flexibility and body mechanics. Sportsmetrics™ is tailored to correct deficiencies noted in testing. Cincinnati Sports Medicine research has shown that Sportsmetrics™ training not only increases muscular power and jump height, but also decreases impact forces at the knee.
